Christian Children’s Songs

The Story Behind Christian Children’s Songs

Let everything that has breath and every breath of life praise the Lord! Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!) — Psalm 150:6 AMP

Background – I came from a very musically talented family. My mother and sisters played the piano and sang throughout East Texas. Music was a big part of my formative faith years. While I find more enjoyment with words, I do realize the benefit of good Christian children’s songs. That is how my Christian Children’s Songs came into being. There is power in music, especially words of praise for our Heavenly Father.

Summary – Sowing God’s Word (The Sowing Song) – Sung to the tune “Row Row Row Your Boat” – Faith comes from hearing the Word of God. This song was written to emphasize the role of the Word in transforming your life. By continually speaking the Word, you are planting that Heavenly seed in your heart. As long as you protect that seed, it will produce a bountiful harvest of joy in your life. You have God’s Word on that!

Sow, sow, sow, God’s Word
Water it with praise
Verily, verily, verily, verily
Joy fills all your days

Summary – Jesus Christ Is Coming Again – Sung to the tune “Santa Clause Is Coming To Town” – We can praise God for all His promises in this life AND we can rejoice that Jesus will return and we will spend a glorious eternity in God’s presence. “Jesus Christ is coming again!” Hallelujah!

Summary – That’s How We Live As Christians – Sung to the tune “Deep In The Heart Of Texas” – If you grow up in Texas, you definitely know this tune. It provides a memorable melody for a song about Christian living. “We’re living free, abundantly, That’s why we live as Christians!”

Summary – The Palm Sunday Song – Sung to the tune “She’ll Be Coming Round the Mountain” – One of my most popular songs that has been used frequently during Palm Sunday services. It is a familiar tune and great way to get kids involved in worship activities. “We’ll be shouting out ‘Hosanna!’ When he comes!”

Summary – God Loves You. God Loves Me! – Sung to the tune “This Old Man” – There is a popular children’s character that uses the same melody for their theme song. The emphasis of their lyrics is love, but true love can only come from a knowledge of God who IS love. This song was written to remind kids how much God loves them. “Give your heart to Him and He always will be near. In His arms you will have no fear.”

Summary – The Creation Song – Sung to the tune “The Twelve Days of Christmas” – What better way to remind kids that God created the earth than a song set to a familiar tune. “On the first day of creation the good Lord gave to me.”

Did You Know?
– I have received praise reports and thanks for all these songs. I truly appreciate every single one of them. If you use these songs in your service, please drop me a note and if possible, add my URL to any printed material handed out at the service. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Biblical Theme – I usually go to God’s Word for inspiration for each song. While there are many verses on praising God and singing to Him, this is one of my favorites.

Through Him, therefore, let us constantly and at all times offer up to God a sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of lips that thankfully acknowledge and confess and glorify His name. — Hebrews 13:15 AMP

Hope you enjoy the songs!
